We are fortunate to live in a time and place where we can live long and healthy lives. It gives us time to explore and master skills that we may have only wondered about. In their book "The 100-year life", authors Gratton and Scott suggest that switching careers is not only possible, but a necessity to ensure that longevity in life is supported by our ability to earn an income. Don't dismay. "Given that across a 100-year lifespan there are 873,000 hours available and if, as is often claimed, a specialist expertise takes 10,000 hours to acquire, mastery in more than one field is neither daunting nor impossible." Retrain, rethink, reimagine what you want to do in the next stage of your life.
